The Parkside community sits between Cooper University Medical Center and Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center, and is adjacent to the borough of Collingswood. It includes the 72-acre Farnham Park which recently underwent a $1 million renovation; the Boys & Girls Club original Camden clubhouse; and five schools ranging from the Early Childhood Development Center to Camden High School and Met East. It is also ideal for commuters with easy access to Route 130 and the Philadelphia bridges, center city Camden, the Ferry Avenue train stations and three NJ Transit bus routes.

Neighborhood development corporation Parkside Business & Community In Partnership, Inc., offers high quality housing for sale and is also leading investment in the neighborhood business district in Parkside. PBCIP’s highly anticipated RENEW building will bring new businesses as well as state of the art “green” technology to Parkside.

History of the Area

The Parkside neighborhood is a century-old community originally developed as an alternative to crowded city living in Philadelphia, Parkside was advertised by developer John M. Kelley as the first "streetcar suburb."  The neighborhood began as a largely Jewish community, with a vibrant social life centering around the Haddon Avenue business district. By mid century, the neighborhood had transitioned to a mainly African American community, with a stable base of upwardly mobile professionals actively involved in the community. For the past 20 years, Parkside Business & Community in Partnership has been leading efforts to grow and improve the neighborhood.
